Ilona Zekely is Partner at Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev and Partners. She focuses on providing legal support to German, Austrian, Swiss and other international companies in their activities across the CIS. She practices in the areas of: corporate law, M&A, energy, oil & gas, real estate and commercial law.
Ilona has almost 20 years of legal experience in Europe and the CIS. Since joining the Firm in 2010, she has advised a number of major international banks, insurance companies, energy and high technology and other multinational clients. She is particularly involved in renewable energy projects, including advice on the construction of the first–ever solar energy project in Ukraine and as well for the preparation for the EURO 2012 Championship.
Prior to joining the Firm, Ilona was the Managing Partner of Schoenherr international law firm in Ukraine. In that capacity she had been successfully managing and developing the Ukrainian office, as well as supervising international clients and projects. She supported a wide range of cross-border transactions for various multinational and financial institutions in investment structuring, M&A and corporate law issues, real estate and land projects, insurance and oil & gas matters. She is recognized by Chambers, Legal 500, IFLR 1000 and other legal guides for her work in Ukraine.
Prior to coming to the CIS in 2007, she worked for Baker & McKenzie and other prominent law firms in Vienna, Austria. Ilona Zekely is an author of several publications on various Ukrainian, Austrian and German legal issues. She is endorsed as one of Ukraine's best lawyers by Best Lawyers 2011. Ms. Zekely obtained her Master of law from Law Faculty at University of Vienna, Austria. She is member of Ukrainian Bar Association and International Bar Association.
