Evgeny Raschevsky Attended the ICC Conference on Multilateral Arbitration and Parallel Proceedings

28-06-2010
Evgeny Raschevsky, a partner at Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners presented on Arbitration Claims in Bankruptcy Proceedings at the Multilateral Arbitration and Parallel Proceedings international conference today, organised by the Russian National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce – the World Business Organization (ICC Russia), in collaboration with the ICC International Court of Arbitration.

The number of arbitration cases that involve more than two parties increases every year due to the complex nature of transactions comprised of multiple related deals. Incorporating several disputes into a single proceeding is a difficult task complicated by more than two parties being involved and more than one agreement being made between those parties.

Frequently, one arbitration proceeding may arise at the same time as another, or with a proceeding at a state court on a related dispute. Should the state or the arbitration court suspend the proceedings in these circumstances? What precedents are there for related disputes? To discuss these matters, leading Russian and international experts were invited to attend the conference.
